More 'Hunger Games' Movies In The Making? Producer Nina Jacobson Spills The Tea

Hunger Games The Ballad of Songbirds and Snakes with Viola Davis and Tom Blyth

THE HUNGER GAMES: THE BALLAD OF SONGBIRDS AND SNAKES surpassed $100 million globally, and while the prequel didn't perform as well as the original trilogy, Lionsgate is in the business of building franchises so what's next? The franchise's Executive Producer Nina Jacobson revealed to CineMovie what the future plans are for the franchise.

THE HUNGER GAMES: THE BALLAD OF SONGBIRDS AND SNAKES centers around Coriolanus Snow (Tom Blyth), years before he would become President of Panem. Looking to change his future fortunes, he takes on a tribute, Lucy Gray (Rachel Zegler) to win the 10th Hunger Games.

THE BALLAD OF SONGBIRDS AND SNAKES debuted with a $44 million opening in North America and $56 million overseas. The production reportedly cost $100 million, a smaller budget than the previous movies.

Hollywood doesn't usually relaunch a franchise for a one-off, but producer Nina Jacobson says it all depends on Suzanne Collins. "Ask Suzanne Collins! Where she goes, I will follow," she told CineMovie in the video below. "In the same way that I didn't know this was coming, I have no knowledge of another book coming, but a girl can always hope."

If the money is right, we're sure Collins could cook up another book or two.

THE HUNGER GAMES: THE BALLAD OF SONGBIRDS AND SNAKES is now in movie theaters.
