DESPICABLE ME 2 Minions Sighted in the Skies of Long Beach

Minion-Blimp-DespicableMe

Those cuddly little minions from Universal Pictures’ DESPICABLE ME 2 have been spotted around the skies of American cities flying around as a blimp. CineMovie gets to ride one of the DespicaBlimps for a personal tour of the skies of Long Beach, CA.

An opportunity of a lifetime came about when CineMovie was offered a chance to ride in one of the dozen Despicable Me blimps floating around the skies of the United States.  CineMovie’s Sue Evelyn Gil was up to the challenge and took to the skies for a tour of the Long Beach, CA area.  Her personal guide, Allan Judd from the operating company Van Wagner, explained the workings of the airship and took her up into the beautiful skies of Southern California to witness the aerial view of Long Beach.  While riding the DespicaBlimp, we got aerial shots of the Queen Mary, the Aquarium of the Pacific, the coastline, and the Long Beach harbor.

Mr. Judd explains the blimp is like a boat and the same mechanic of buoyancy applies to a blimp, hence the name airship.  If turned upside down, the design resembles a submarine, according to Allan Judd.  The takeoff and landing of these airships resembles how boats would be handled with men tugging and tying up the helium filled balloon.

Sue Evelyn and our camera man Isaac Mitchell count the DespicaBlimp experience as one the best moments in their lives.

For more fun with the minions, DESPICABLE ME 2 is now playing in movie theaters.
