Fan Reactions to THE HUNGER GAMES Advance Screening

Thirty winners from Chicago, IL,Dallas, TX, El Paso, TX, Houston, TX, Los Angeles, CAMiami, FL, New York, NY, Phoenix, AZ, San Antonio, TX, and San Jose, CA attended the screenings on Wednesday, March 21st.  Afterwards, the fans sent us their reactions to the movie.  Starting March 23, fans will take to the internet to praise or criticize the adaptation but overall sentiment has been positive.

"The Hunger Games was an excellent book-to-movie adaptation. As we all know, usually movies are sub-par to their novel counter-parts, but I believe this adaptation was handled with the utmost care and respect and everyone involved did a great job to make this film everything the fans wanted and possibly more. They only complaint I might have is the slight difference in how Katniss received her Mockingjay pin, it may be a bit nit-picky, but I feel the substance and meaningful reason for the pin was slightly diminished. The Hunger Games movie was fantastic and did a great job of providing visuals for a story that already made millions imagine very vivid images. Furthermore, and what I think is most important from a business stand point is this: It just made me want to see the next installment, Catching Fire."

"First and foremost thank you so so much for this opportunity!

The movie was amazing! The script stuck close to the book and the cinematography was amazing. Of course there were some changes made, as are almost all book to movie films that are made, but it didn't take away from the core theme of the books which was so refreshing.

Again thank you very much!"

"One of the best movies I have seen in a long time! Can't wait for the 2nd one."

"The movie was Spectacular! Having read the books, I've gotta say that this is one of the best film adaptations I've seen since Harry Potter! I brought my sister as well who, unlike me, has not read the books, but loved the film equally as much! Each character was as unique and diverse as I pictured them from the novels. It was a perfect balance of action and emotion that my heart was pounding in suspense. However, one of my favorite things about this film is how try it stayed to the novel. Watching The Hunger Games will let anyone know almost Everything that happened within the book, with the added bonus of breathtaking scenes. Ultimately, seeing an advance screening of The Hunger Games was a once in a lifetime opportunity, which left me leaving the theater hungry for more!"

"I was very pleased with the movie.  I was worried that with all the hype it wasn't going to live up to the book.  The books were great books.  I recommend anyone read them.  My son started talking at the beginning of the movie making comparisons, but then I told him to be quiet and just enjoy it.  For the most part, the movie followed the book.  There were a few things that were changed, but as good as it was to watch, the minor things fell into place.  I won't spoil the book, if you haven't read it, but there was (IMO) a big part to the end of the book that was left out of the movie, but that was the only part I wasn't completely satisfied with.  My son laughed at me because I was crying.  I didn't cry at the Reaping in the book, but in the movie these two actresses just had so much feeling that I couldn't help myself.  My son said it could have had more blood, but then again he is a boy that plays video gamesand I am a mother of three and seeing them really go that far probably would have hurt me.  The movie was not overly gory.  It has some gross parts (the burn, tracker jacker scene & Peeta's injury) but that was nothing that couldn't be resolved with the person just covering their eyes for a short time.  Overall, I was very pleased with the movie.  I took my son with me to the premier and my oldest daughter was not very happy with me.  However, I liked the movie so much that I am thinking about taking her to go see it this weekend."
