Repeat Viewing Fueling THE AVENGERS Box Office Dominance?

An alien invasion movie was no match for the assembling of Iron Man, Thor, Captain America, Hulk, and the rest of the Marvel superheroes which took in a little over $55 million, a 46% drop from the previous numbers ($103 million). The movie has now taking in $$457 million in three weeks. Either word-of-mouth continues to bring in new audiences or viewers are coming back to watch the film repeatedly..
Opening weekend numbers for new releases were no where near the AVENGERS numbers. BATTLESHIP sunk at the box office with $25.3 million over the pre-Memorial weekend for the $209 million production. Sacha Baron Cohen's THE DICTATOR fared better than WHAT TO EXPECT WHEN YOU'RE EXPECTING with a 17.4 million and $10.5 million respectively.
