'Exodus: Gods and Kings' New Movie Review: Is Ridley Scott Losing His Touch?

Ridley Scott directs Christian Bale on set of Exodus: Gods and Kings

You would think that the director behind Gladiator would have given us another solid epic piece, but EXODUS: GODS AND KINGS is so uneven in character development and story that it leaves you wondering what Ridley Scott was thinking. What saves the film is Christian Bale and Joel Edgerton superb acting and onscreen dynamic.

New Movie Review: HORRIBLE BOSSES 2 Gets Raunchier

 Horrible-Bosses-2-movie

The fear of most sequels is that we’ll get more of the same but with a bigger budget. Luckily HORRIBLE BOSSES 2 doesn’t fall victim to the Hangover movie formula. Jason Bateman, Jason Sudeikis and Charlie Day have license to be even more naughty and raunchy in their second outing.

New Movie Review: Keanu Reeves is Cool in JOHN WICK

John Wick Keanu Reeves new movie image2

In a 2003 GQ piece, Lucy Kaylin noted “no actor dead or alive has ever been better matched with a role than Keanu Reeves is with Neo.” And while the actor’s iconic role in the Matrix is still is best to date - his portrayal of the title character in John Wick compliments his strengths so perfectly - it’s almost on par with it.

New Movie Review: FURY is Furious

 Fury movies Brad Pitt

There have been plenty of World War II movies, but nothing like what we’re seeing in Brad Pitt’s new movie FURY.  Directed by David Ayer (End of Watch, Sabotage), the tank warfare action scenes are super cool, but most importantly the action doesn’t overshadow the characters with excellent acting from Brad Pitt, Michael Peña, Shia LaBeouf, Logan Lerman and Jon Bernthal. Best thing of all is seeing a Latino actor in the mix which we’ve rarely seen as the lead in any war movie.

New Movie Review: Cantinflas Biopic Is A Must See

 Cantinflas-movie4

The Cantinflas movies were a big part of my childhood so to see the most beloved Mexican artist get a movie worthy of his legacy is a joy. Oscar Jaenada is so convincing as Mario Moreno’s on screen persona that he deserves some sort of award. Watching the Pantelion film was nostalgic and it reminds you why he came to be adored by many generations even to this day. If you are not familiar with Cantinflas, then you’ll fall in love with him during this film.
