Johnny Depp Could Play Captain Jack Sparrow Forever

With a fifth and sixth Pirates of the Caribbean in the works, Johnny Depp may get his wish. At a press conference with the cast, director Rob Marshall, and producer Jerry Bruckheimer in Beverly Hills for the movie, Depp talked about taking Captain Jack Sparrow beyond a sixth Pirates of the Caribbean movie.

"I think they can wheel me in," joked the Alice in Wonderland star.  "Have my dreads get tangled in the wheels of the chair."

Depp foresees endless possibilities for the eye-liner wearing pirate whose "madness" and "absurdity" will always lend itself to never-ending stories. "For me, a character like Captain Jack ...you feel like you can continue.  The possibilities are endless, limitless."

Pirates of the Caribbean producer Jerry Bruckheimer  is on board to continue the pirate saga, as long as Disney keeps giving them the greenlight. "If it makes them a lot of money, its a success," said the Transformers producer. "And we're all hoping it makes them a lot of money."

The first rough draft is in for the fifth Pirates of the Caribbean, according to the prolific producer, but he says "it'll take some time to get a good piece of entertainment that everybody will enjoy."  Bruckheimer hopes to bring it "quicker" to the big screen than previous films.

Perhaps Captain Jack Sparrow can help in speeding up the process. Johnny Depp said a "very clever idea" for Pirates of the Caribbean five and six were being "hatched."  "We're actually going to shoot them on the ride," joked Depp. "Just going around in circles. Non-stop. Kind of like Andy Warhol's 'Sleep' ".

The fifth Pirates movie may not go Depp's way but PIRATES OF THE CARIBBEAN: ON STRANGER TIDES definitely leaves it open for a sequel but you'll have to stay until after the credits to see where the next chapter will take the story.

PIRATES OF THE CARIBBEAN: ON STRANGER TIDES opens in movie theaters May 20, 2011.
