Judging by the new THE DARK KNIGHT RISES poster, the epic conclusion to Christopher Nolan’s Batman trilogy will not be a happy one. Batman, in a ripped bat suit, hangs his head low as Gotham burns to ashes around him with the tagline "A Fire Will Rise." Is an apocalypse coming to Gotham?

Heath Ledger's Joker added some fun to The Dark Knight, but from the new poster reveal and the most recent DARK KNIGHT RISES trailers, the tone of the film will be far from a laughing matter. All signs point to the demise of the Bat Man, or at least a new direction for the DC Comic Book character without Christian Bale and Christopher Nolan. A franchise this successful will most likely continue given Hollywood's penchant for resurrecting properties.
The curiosity factor on how dark Christopher Nolan is taking the story has yet to seen, but the PG-13 rating tames the notion.
The last film in the trilogy starring Christian Bale, Michael Caine, Anne Hathaway, Tom Hardy, Gary Oldman, Marion Cotillard, Joseph Gordon-Levitt, and Morgan Freeman is fast approaching its release date of July 20, 2012 and its got big shoes to fill as Marvel's The Avengers continues to break box office records?
