VIDEO: Karl Urban On Dredd Being Like Clint Eastwood's Western Persona

Clint Eastwood was the man with no name in the classic Spaghetti Westerns, but Judge Dredd is the man with no face in DREDD 3D. Actor Karl Urban didn't mind remaining an anonymous character throughout the movie as part of the character's enigma, much like Clint Eastwood's western persona.
CineMovie sat down with the DREDD 3D star in Miami who told CineMovie's Zay Zay that taking on a role where his face would never be seen was not an issue when he took the iconic comic book character. "It's part of the character's enigma," said the New Zealander. In the video interview, he proceeded to tell us why "it's the same sort of thing" as Clint Eastwood's man with no name persona in the Sergio Leone westerns.VIDEO: What does DREDD 3D's Karl Urban Geek Out To?
The Star Trek star also discusses the unique challenges that came with taking on the shoot 'em up role. He trained extensively for three months in Cape Town, South Africa before the film began production. He describes the process as the "real deal" where he was training with stunt men with a semi-soft pistol using real BB pellets and engaging stunt men on set. "That's as close as the real deal I want to get," he said about the live action training. He then warns audiences, "don't try this at home."
Urban also revealed his favorite Judge Dredd ammo - the hot shot.
