THE HOST Behind the Scenes with Saoirse Ronan, Max Irons, and Jake Abel’s Kiss Fest (Video Interview)

The-Host-On-Set
There’s plenty of kissing going on in Stephenie Meyer’s THE HOST movie adaptation and its stars Saoirse Ronan, Max Irons, and Jake Abel reveal what went on behind the scenes during the steamy love triangle.

In the romantic sci-fi adventure THE HOST, 19-year old actress Saoirse Ronan plays two characters in the same body.  As Melanie Stryder, her body is taken over by an alien soul named the Wanderer aka Wanda, but Melanie’s spirit still lives within her.  Each woman falls in love with two men. Max Irons plays Melanie’s boyfriend, Jared while Jake Abel become enamored with Wanda. The two actors each have their own kissing scenes with the Irish actress.

Both Max Irons and Jake Abel tell CineMovie there was no competition on the set as to who was the best kisser. “It’s boring, I know. We’re all buds. It was easy,” says Jake who next stars in the Percy Jackson sequel.  Knowing Saoirse from their time on set for Peter Jackson’s The Lovely Bones in 2008 also helped to relieve any awkwardness.

Max, the son of Academy Award winning actor Jeremy Irons, fesses up there was “a lot of joking and laughing on set.”  There was, however, some discomfort during one make out session, which had Max fretting Saoirse’s father. Saoirse, who was 17-year-old at the time of shooting, had her parents with her at all times. In one particular scene, Max admits he could feel Saoirse’s dad staring him down as he kissed her baby during a bedroom scene. “Weird, ” is how he described the situation, but luckily both Saoirse’s parents were great people and obviously a good influence on their very mature daughter.

In the interview, Saoirse says asked her father to look away in one desert scene that required more lip smacking.  “I don’t like mom and dad being on set when I’m doing that kind of stuff,” she admits.  She doesn’t mind her mother so much, but she chooses to often look away or leave the set for those awkward moments of watching her daughter make out, which were many in THE HOST.

Not a bad gig having to make out with two hunks in one movie. THE HOST opens in movie theaters March 29, 2013.  THE HOST New Steamy Movie Posters
