Jason Reitman's LABOR DAY starts production this week in Massachusetts with Kate Winslet and Josh Brolin starring in the film that occurs…you guessed it…during the Labor Day weekend.

Paramount Pictures in conjunction with Indian Paintbrush announced Tuesday the start of principal photography on the Jason Reitman film.  The Academy Award®-nominated filmmaker (Juno, Young Adult, Up In The Air) wrote and directed the film under his production banner Right of Way Films.

Thankfully, LABOR DAY has no relation to Garry Marshall's ensemble films New Year's Eve and Valentine's Day. LABOR DAY centers on a 13-year-old boy, his reclusive mother (Winslet), and a stranger (Brolin) that will change their lives over the Labor Day weekend. Gattlin Griffith (Green Lantern,  Changeling)  plays Henry Wheeler  struggling to be the man of his house and care for his reclusive mother Adele while confronting all the pangs of adolescence.  On a back-to-school shopping trip, Henry and his mother encounter Frank Chambers, a man both intimidating and clearly in need of help, who convinces them to take him into their home and later is revealed to be an escaped convict.  The events of this long Labor Day weekend will shape them for the rest of their lives.

The Avengers' Clark Gregg, James Van Der Beek ("Dawson's Creek"), and "Grey's Anatomy's" Brooke Smith star alongside Winslet (Revolutionary Road, Titanic) and Josh Brolin (Men In Black 3, No Country For Old Men).

No release date has been announced for LABOR DAY.
