Writer/director David Ayer (Training Day, The Fast & The Furious) returns to what he knows best - the mean streets of Los Angeles in END OF WATCH.  The director along with actor Michael Peña attended the screening along with co-stars Natalie Martinez and Nick Chacon. Academy Award nominee Jake Gyllenhaal and Michael Peña are young Los Angeles police officers (LAPD) patrolling South Central's gangster ridden streets.  Officers Taylor and Zavala inadvertently uncover a Mexican drug ring that will jeopardize their lives. The story is told from the point of view of the officers using strapped-on cameras on the actors that captures the intensity of their police work.

The screening was part of the Lation MediaCon and Expo in Pasadena, Ca, hosted by the National Hispanic Media Coalition (NHMC).  Before the movie, Jake Gyllenhaal star and executive producer sent a special message thanking NHMC for screening the film and wishing everyone a good time.  Following the screening, the actors and director answered questions from the audience with moderator Bel Hernandez of Latin Heat.

During the Q&A,  Michael Peña joked he became a camera operator and not just an actor as END OF WATCH director physically controlled his body to get the shots he wanted.  Peña felt very robotic with the gear strapped on to him, but it eventually became second nature.  The actor realized the small cameras used in the shoot help maintain the intimacy of the scene. His director David Ayer revealed he used five different cameras to achieve the pseudo-documentary feel of the film, and custom made a couple of small cameras which could be attached to the actors and to a fishing pole during a fight scene.

END OF WATCH opens September 21, 2012
