Amandla Stenberg (Colombiana) plays Rue, a tribute in the big screen adaptation of Suzanne Collins' THE HUNGER GAMES. During production of the film in the North Carolina woods, a scene called for her character to lay in a meadow of flowers as Katniss weeps over her. Unbeknownst to her and the crew, a hornets nest was nearby when someone walked by and stepped on it. The nests exploded and hornets swarmed the 14-year-old actress stinging her four times in the face. Amanda told CineMovie Jennifer swooped in, picked her up and carried her to the car.
"Jennifer is the heroine. And she ran over and pulled me out and carried me to the car. And like said 'Step on it!' We drive back to base camp and she's so sweet. She brought me cookies and ice cream and brownies, and jello, everything. I was like 'Thanks so much Jen. Like you're so sweet.' And she goes, 'I can have some right.'
Not unlike her character of Katniss who sacrifices herself to save her sister Primrose, Jennifer took responsibility for her younger cast mate which is not unnatural for the actress who is described as "fierce" and "self-sufficient" in real-life by HUNGER GAMES producer Nina Jacobson.

Jennifer Lawrence told CineMovie she and Amandla bonded on set and still keep in touch via text messaging. She referred to Amandla as a young 25-year old for her maturity and her sense of humor which kept her "cracking up" during their emotional scene together. "She's so much cooler than me," she added.
Jennifer and Amandla's chemistry is obvious on screen as most fans will see when THE HUNGER GAMES opens in movie theaters March 23, 2012.
