Vida stars Melissa Barrera and Mishel Prada have to bear it all emotionally and physically in the new Starz show about Latinas returning to their childhood home in East Los Angeles. The actors talk about the pressure of shooting the sexy and raw scenes.
Vida premieres Sunday, May 6 on Starz. Vida is a half–hour drama series focusing on two Mexican–American sisters from the Eastside of Los Angeles who couldn’t be more different or distanced from each other. Circumstances force them to return to their old neighborhood, where they are confronted by the past and surprising truth about their mother’s identity.
This illuminative series explores identity, culture, gender and sexuality through the lens of a Latinx family and their community. An Official Episodic Selection and Audience Award winner at the 2018 SXSW Film Festival, "Vida" is a half-hour series focusing on two Mexican-American sisters, Emma (Mishel Prada, "Fear the Walking Dead: Passage") and Lyn (Melissa Barrera, "Club de Cuervos"), from the Eastside of Los Angeles who couldn't be more different or distanced from each other. Circumstances force them to return to their old neighborhood, where they are confronted by the past and surprising truth about their mother's identity. Ser Anzoategui ("East Los High"), Chelsea Rendon ("The Fosters"), Carlos Miranda ("Chicago P.D.") and Maria Elena Laas (American Weapon) also star.
