Eugenio Derbez To Receive Star on Hollywood Walk of Fame

LOS ANGELES, CA - MARCH 1, 2016 -Eugenio Derbez is soon to become a lifetime resident of the highly regarded real estate known as the Hollywood Walk of fame-he is getting his own star!
 
The award-winning actor/filmmaker/activist will receive his star in a ceremony on March 10th, at 7013 Hollywood Boulevard as recently announced by the Hollywood Chamber of Commerce.  Derbez is so thrilled to be receiving his star that he is extending an invitation to all of his fans to come join him. "Every family who lines up prior to the star ceremony," he declared, "will get a signed DVD of Instructions Not Included."
 
Considered one of the most successful international stars of his generation, Derbez is a native of Mexico. He currently co-stars in Sony Pictures' upcoming and highly anticipated Miracles From Heaven, which opens on March 16th.   He is currently preparing his next starring vehicle How to be a Latin Lover which he is producing under his banner 3pas Studios for Lionsgate.
 
US audiences first became aware of Derbez in English language movies and television shows alongside stars such as Adam Sandler, Rob Schneider, Eva Mendes and others.  But for the Spanish speaking audiences they have known him for decades both in his comedy shows and movies as well as the yearly host of the Latin Grammys.  He also voiced the role of Donkey in Spanish language version of Shrek.
 
His popularity skyrocketed after his indie film Instructions Not Included, a 5 million dollar Mexican Spanish-language dramedy directed and starring Derbez, became the most successful Spanish-language film ever in the U.S., in Mexico and worldwide, eventually earning over $100 million.
 
The Walk of Fame Selection Committee selected Derbez in the movie category for his outstanding film contributions and generous philanthropy. Other Walk of Fame Star recipients also include: Matt Damon, Marlon Brando, Sandra Bullock, Harrison Ford, Tom Cruise, Nicole Kidman, John Travolta, and Julianne Moore.
 
According to Ana Martinez, Producer of the Walk of Fame ceremonies, candidates to receive a Walk of Fame Star must fulfill the longevity in the field of entertainment, nominations for awards, awards and charitable work.  Derbez's contributions more than comply with all requirements.
 
Recognized by Variety as the number one most influential Hispanic male in the world, Derbez's performances and charity have impressed his fans as demonstrated by his influential crossover appeal, which makes him one of the most beloved entertainers both south and north of the border.
