Secrets of the whales review 850

National Geographic brings us SECRETS OF THE WHALES streaming on Disney+ for Earth Day. The 4-part series documents the behaviors and language of four whale species; the humpback, orcas, sperm whales and narwhals. SECRETS OF THE WHALES is a beautiful feat of filmmaking that takes the viewer up close and personal with these matriarchal creatures who are endearing and intelligent.

National Geography explorer and photographyer Brian Skerry traveled the world for three years studying these giants in their elements. You'll fall in love with these whales especially the belugas.

The underwater footage is remarkable with amazing close-ups including that of a sperm whale calf feeding on his mother, a moment never captured before on camera. The whales communication is also captured in crystal clear audio using an hydrophone or sometime on camera.

SECRETS OF THE WHALES will endear you to whales with a fascinating look at their familiar ways. Like humans, it takes a village and the elder matriarch takes on the task of training young calfs in their eating habits, migration and social structures.

SECRETS OF THE WHALES is appropriate for the whole family. Children will find it familiar in the whale's family structure, and educate everyone in the household.
