The abandoned Linda Vista Hospital has been used for many movie shoots including James Wans’ upcoming INSIDIOUS: CHAPTER 2. The Cinemovie team was invited to the terrifying Linda Vista Hospital for an exclusive sneak peak of the highly anticipated trailer presented by director James Wan, and a tour of the haunted hospital.
See the spooky photos below.
For those of you unfamiliar with the hospital, it was abandoned in 91’ and has been a popular filming location for a number of horror flicks including Nightmare on Elm Street and Devil Inside, not to mention the upcoming INSIDIOUS: CHAPTER 2. The hospital has been virtually untouched since its desertion. Its walls are thrashed, the dark hallways smell of asbestos, and the creepy vibes we felt were enough to send chills down our spines.
Cinemovie decided to wander off to conduct our own paranormal investigation! Here’s what went down:
We began in the lobby where we were treated to cervezas and tacos to fuel us for the creepy adventure ahead.
We then ventured into a hallway where to the right and left of us were rooms containing old mattresses, bloodied walls, and rusted toilets. Each room had its own spooky personality: walls drained of color, and an atmospheric, pale-blue light diffused by slits in dusty, cracked windows.
Next, we made our way to a room that was a bright yellow. In fact, they call it The Yellow Room. Seems like it would be a happy place, right? That isn’t the case. We were informed by BHPP that many of the patients that died in the hospital had croaked in The Yellow room.
After rushing out of the hospital’s morgue due to the negative vibes we were feeling, we entered a room called the “isolation room.” The walls were consumed by diabolical writing and creepy artwork left there by the serial killer Richard Ramirez himself.
Our final haunted destination awaited us down a dark stairwell. It was the boiler room that many of you may recognize as Freddy Kreuger’s hideout in the Nightmare films. We were informed that during the 1920’s, certain laws permitted the hospital to dispose of dead bodies through the boiler room’s incinerators. That information wasn’t too comforting.
We then headed back upstairs into the chapel where our investigation was concluded by a special world premiere of the INSIDIOUS: CHAPTER 2 trailer followed by Q & A with director James Wan.
Wan made it clear to the fans that this sequel takes on a different type of genre. This time around he takes on the concept of astral projecting and astral travel to be the vessel for this spooky installment.
“The first movie has a twist on the classic haunted house genre. The second one is a slightly different movie. It has a twist on a different sub-genre. It’s more in the vein of a domestic thriller but with a pervasive supernatural undertone.”
INSIDIOUS: CHAPTER 2 begins haunting theatres Friday, September 13th.
