Halloween is edging ever closer and we are all looking to find our Halloween spirit by finding the biggest pumpkin, the scariest costumes and all the party decorations that comes with it. While there are some who will be quite satisfied to curl up with a hot chocolate and maybe enjoy playing the Which Witch game at mFortune; the majority of us will be meeting up with friends having a few drinks, watching a movie before heading out trick or treating and/or going to a party.
What is it about movies that makes them so popular? Many of us absolutely adore film and want to see everything that comes out, no matter what genre or who is starring in it. It’s not always about the storyline; there is something else that makes movies magical. Here are some of the reasons why movies are so well-loved.

Las Vegas is one of the most well-known places on the planet. Most people you’d ask who hadn’t already visited would probably tell you that they’d like to because Sin City literally has it all. This is one of the main reasons that we have seen huge box office hit movies filmed there, as well as memorable TV shows. That, and the fact Las Vegas is all glitz and glamour. People associate it with infinite riches but with wealth comes crime at times and this has helped with the plots of many shows and movies to hit out screens. In fact, some of these TV series themes have gone even further to become successful board, video and online slots games, together with a host of various types of memorabilia.
It will come as no surprise to see all sorts of weird and wonderful items to enjoy all based on TV shows, which can be found on Amazon, eBay and online casinos, like Unibet.
2017 has seen one more film added to the list of perplexing creations. Based on the cultural phenomenon formed by a humble social app, The Emoji Movie had great potential, if handled with original vision and wit. The plot is set in the city of Textopolis, where Gene, a multi-expressional emoji, heads out to become as normal as other emojis and their single expressions. Unfortunately, the enthusiasm that went into its development, such as casting award-winners James Corden (Into the Woods, 2014) and Ilana Glazer (Broad City, 2014-2018), as well as T.J. Miller (Silicon Valley, 2014-2017) and Anna Faris (I Give It a Year, 2013), was not enough to impress its more demanding audiences. Critics on Rotten Tomatoes pointed out, among other things, a weakness in taste, plot and purpose, apart from it being little more than a promotional tool. Even though the $179,535,817 global box office likely soothed Sony Pictures Animation’s wounded pride, the fact remains that this flop may have damaged any dreams of future productions of this kind.
It’s often an unwritten rule that the originals are always better than the remakes. This seems to apply not just with music but with movies too. We’ve seen it many times where an old film gets remade to bring it into the modern era, only for it to fall flat on its face. Some people often question the reasoning behind trying to reinvent a classic, as why should anyone try and fix something that isn’t broken?

Universal Picture built up THE MUMMY starring Tom Cruise and Russell Crowe as the rebirth of the classic Universal monsters from the 1930s, but it it’s far from that. Maybe Universal should’ve kept this buried. So how did it unravel?
The good news is TRANSFORMERS: THE LAST KNIGHT is an improvement over the last three TRANSFORMER movies, but the bad news is the connect-the-dots plot may fry your brain circuits by the end. The targeted movie crowd (young boys) will be distracted by the shiny toys and robots so they won't mind. Isabela Moner, a new human-sized Transformer and Sir Anthony Hopkins are nice additions to this tired franchise.

CAPTAIN AMERICA: CIVIL WAR is essentially another Avengers movie with most of the Marvel superheroes coming together to fight each other. That’s not exactly a bad thing given AVENGERS: AGE OF ULTRON left a bad taste in my mouth. CIVIL WAR is nearly perfect with great action that doesn’t involve mass destruction, aliens or world domination. The introduction of Black Panther, Ant-Man and Spider-Man nearly steals the show.
