'Beetlejuice Beetlejuice' Movie Review: Tim Burton Returns To His Roots

Beetlejuice sequel Winona Ryder Michael Keaton 2024

BEETLEJUICE BEETLEJUICE is quintessential Tim Burton. The sequel to the 1988 movie reminds fans what they love most about Burton’s films, from NIGHTMARE BEFORE CHRISTMAS to FRANKENWEENIE and, of course, the original BEETLEJUICE. This movie represents a flashback to Tim Burton's classics, showcasing his love of the macabre. However, the pacing is slow, and time is wasted on unnecessary subplots.

If you're a fan of the X-MEN movies and the Marvel Cinematic Universe, it's a two-hour nerd fest. Even for those unfamiliar with the franchises, there's still plenty to laugh about. Don't worry, the Disney ownership didn't affect the irreverence of the franchise with the filmmakers doubling down on the provocative and violence.

'Twisters' Movie Review

Glen Powell, Anthony Ramos, Daisy Edgar Jones in Twisters movie review

Lee Isaac Chung's TWISTERS is Hollywood's typical run-of-the-mill disaster flick, but the CGI tornadoes are much more frightening than the original 1996 blockbuster, TWISTER. Glen Powell's charisma spices up the action along with Daisy Edgar-Jones.  Those familiar with the original 1996 blockbuster, will recognize some familiar elements, but the film is mostly unrelated to the original movie starring Helen Hunt and the late Bill Paxton.
