Hugh Jackman was a well-known television star in Australia before striking it big in Hollywood circa 2000, and these films cemented Hugh Jackman's future as Tinseltown's most likable leading man.
CHAPPIE (2015)
He's changing it up again by playing the antagonist in Neill Blomkamp's futuristic tale of artificial intelligence. And who is going to forget that not-quite-a-mullet-yet haircut that gives him that douch-ey vibe. In CHAPPIE opening March 6th, the Australian native is not such a nice guy in this futuristic tale of a robot with the ability to think and feel for himself — a dangerous idea and a challenge that will pit Chappie against powerful, destructive forces like Jackman’s Vincent Moore.
THE PRESTIGE (2006)
In this smart thriller from Christopher Nolan, Jackman goes head to head with fellow magician played by Christian Bale. Two stage magicians engage in competitive one-upmanship in an attempt to create the ultimate stage illusion.
LES MISÉRABLES (2012)
His role as Jean Valjean earned Jackman his first Oscar nomination for Best Actor. Like many actors, he wasn't afraid to look his worst in this period piece which combined both his loves - acting and singing.
PRISONERS (2013)
Jackman isn't afraid of taking on dark roles as the father so desperate to find his daughter's kidnapper that he resorts to violence and kidnapping. When Keller Dover's daughter and her friend go missing, he takes matters into his own hands as the police pursue multiple leads and the pressure mounts.
SWORDFISH (2001)
Hugh Jackman is the best looking hacker in the world (until Chris Hemsworth took the title with Black Hat recently), and he held up against John Travolta’s neurotic bad guy in a heist gone wrong. He's also teamed up with Halle Berry in this film, which made them the sexiest on-screen couple that year.
X-MEN (2000)
Jackman became an instant celebrity after his career-turning role as The Wolverine. Fifteen years later, the hairy mutant will be reprising his role once again in yet another X-Men movie with Apocalypse and stand-alone Wolverine movie in the near future.
X2: X-Men United (2003)
Out of all the X-men mutants, Wolverine continues to be the most interesting character from the bunch, which may explain why he's still playing Logan 15 years after first taking on the role.
KATE & LEOPOLD (2001)
After playing the brooding Wolverine, Jackman proved he can be a romantic leading man in this time travel movie opposite Meg Ryan.
THE FOUNTAIN (2006)
As a modern-day scientist, Tommy (Jackman) is struggling with mortality, desperately searching for the medical breakthrough that will save the life of his cancer-stricken wife, Izzi. Jackman made us cry during this movie as the devoted husband.
REAL STEEL (2011)
Once again Jackman plays a multi-layered character as a less than stellar father using his estranged son for money to fund his robot boxing fights.
