Steven Spielberg’s classic movie CLOSE ENCOUNTERS OF A THIRD KIND is turning 40 this year, and Sony Pictures is releasing a digitally remastered film in 4K in theaters everywhere on September 1. On September 19, the classic sci-fi film will arrive on Blu-ray and 4K ultra HD. Watch the new trailer and check out the new poster marking the occasion.
Released on November 16, 1977, CLOSE ENCOUNTERS OF A THIRD KIND took the sci-fi genre to a new level along with STAR WARS that year. The film starred Richard Dreyfuss in a star-making turn with Terri Garr and legendary filmmaker Francois Truffaut.
After an encounter with U.F.O.s, a line worker feels undeniably drawn to an isolated area in the wilderness where something spectacular is about to happen.
