Steven Spielberg's JURASSIC PARK gets a 3D makeover for it's 20th Anniversary. While the film will be introduced to a new generation of movie fans on April 5, 2013, longtime fans already know a lot about the three-time Academy Award®-winning blockbuster or do they? Here are five fun facts about the 1993 ground-breaking film.
Based on the novel by Michael Crichton, JURASSIC PARK starred Sam Neill, Laura Dern, Jeff Goldblum, Samuel L. Jackson and Richard Attenborough. New and existing fans will get to enjoy the T-Rex and velociraptors in a re-mastered state-of-the-art 3D format, To ready you for the re-living of this masterpiece, here are some interesting tidbits about the making of the film and its author.
1. The fearful roar of the T-Rex was actually a combination of animal sounds which included elephant trumpeting and penguin mating sounds. The velociraptor was dolphin squeaks mixed with walrus grunts.
2. A few of the scenes with velociraptors were actually of animators wearing partial rubber suits.
3. The vibrating water cup scene was executed by the playing of a guitar.
4. JURASSIC PARK, was at one time, the highest-grossing film and remains among the top 15.
5. Michael Crichton has since revealed that he visited MIT to discuss his idea for the film and bringing dinosaurs back to life.
