Russell Crowe adn Hugh Jackman in Les Miserables

The big screen adaptation of Les Misérables only wrapped production earlier this month, but a teaser trailer to the long-anticipated movie has already been released featuring Anne Hathaway's Fantine belting out the beloved song "I Dreamed  A Dream" over the action.

Directed by The King’s Speech’s Academy Award®-winning director, Tom Hooper, the film stars Aussie countrymen Hugh Jackman as Jean Valjean and Russell Crowe as Javert, along with Anne Hathaway, Amanda Seyfried, Helena Bonham Carter and Sacha Baron Cohen (The Dictator).  The motion-picture adaptation of the beloved musical takes place 19th-century France, in which a parole (Jackman) is entrusted with a worker's daughter while being chased by the ruthless policeman played by Crowe.

Victor Hugo's classic novel comes to life on screen through its famous songs. In the teaser trailer, Anne Hathaway in her first musical, showcases the actress singing "I Dreamed A Dream" and her boyish haircut. Other Les Misérables classics such as “Bring Him Home,” “One Day More” and “On My Own” will surely be included in the film's soundtrack.

Les Misérables opens December 14, 2012
