The 2020 Oscar nominations were announced Monday morning, and plenty of worthy people were left off the prestigious Hollywood it list. Jennifer Lopez (HUSTLERS), Awkwafina (THE FAREWELL), Adam Sandler (Uncut Gems), Greta Gerwig for director (LITTLE WOMEN), Taron Egerton (ROCKETMAN), Eddie Murphy (UNCUT GEMS) and the list goes on. As a member of the Hollywood Critics Association, we celebrated the best of 2019 in films Thursday night with an impressive list of nominees and guests. The winners included Taika Waititi, Olivia Wilde, Denis Villeneuve, Joaquin Phoenix, PARASITE director Bong Joon-Ho, 1917 and newcomers such as Kelvin Harrison Jr. (WAVES, LUCE), Kaitlyn Dever (BOOKSMART) and Noah Jupe (HONEY BOY, A QUIET PLACE). Latinos and Indigenous Actor Make Academy Award History

The 91st Academy Awards were announced Tuesday morning, and the nominees may be the most diverse in Oscar history.

Spike Lee received his first Oscar nomination for best director and best picture for BLAKkKLASMAN. Regina King also got her first nomination as best actress for IF BEALE STREET COULD TALK, and Rami Malek who is Egyptian-American, also became a first. Marvel's BLACK PANTHER also claimed a first by scoring a Best Picture nom for a superhero film along with six other nominations. But most impressive is Alfonso Cuarón's ROMA which received 10 nominations including for the very first Indigenous person to be nominated.

The Golden Globe nominations have arrived for the The 76th Golden Globe Awards which will be held on Jan. 6, 2019. VICE starring Christian Bale as Vice President Dick Cheney received the most awards with 6 nominations. Mexican director Alfonso Cuaron received three noms for the Spanish drama, ROMA. Guillermo de Toro's 'Shape of Water' Wins Big At 90th Academy Awards

THE SHAPE OF WATER was the big winner at the 90th Academy Awards Sunday night. Mexican director Guillermo del Toro calls this fantasy film his most personal film, and it payed off with four Oscars including Best Director for del Toro and Best Picture. The film's original score by Alexandre Desplat took home the statue as well as production design. Nominations for the 89th Annual Academy Awards were announced Tuesday morning, and the clear winner seems to be Damien Chazelle’s LA LA LAND with a record 14 nominations, tying with the record set by TITANIC in 1998. Barry Jenkins’ MOONLIGHT and Denis Villeneuve’s ARRIVAL tied with 8. All seems to be forgiven with Mel Gibson by Hollywood as his film HACKSAW RIDGE earned him 6 nominations including Best Director and Best Film along with Best Actor for Andrew Garfield. Director Alejandro G. Iñarritu and director of cinematographer Emmanuel Lubezki made history this year at the 88th annual Academy Awards with their wins for THE REVENANT. The Mexican natives both took home an Oscar back-to-back with Iñarritu earning his second Best Director award while Lubezki or "Chivo" as he's called by his friends, won three Oscars for Best Cinematography three years in a row. Iñarritu's win also marked the third time a Mexican filmmaker took home the Best Director award.

Director Alejandro G. Iñárritu took home his second Director's Guild of America (DGA) Award two years straight for Outstanding Directorial Achievement in Feature Film, this time for THE REVENANT. The win also marks the first time a director takes home the DGA Award back-to-back for Directorial Achievement. The Mexican filmmaker was quite emotional during his acceptance speech Saturday night when he gave a shout out to the Mexican workers in the kitchen who he says are not anything like what Donald Trump has described. He also mentioned his father and was deeply moved by the recognition. THE REVENANT star Leonardo DiCaprio was there for support.

There were few surprises in this year's Golden Globe nominations with the usual famous names and expected movies making the list, but most will be surprised with George Miller's two nominations for his return to the world of Mad Max. The Australian director received a best motion picture and best director nomination for "Mad Max: Fury Road." The Screen Actors Guild announced the nominees Wednesday morning for actors in motion picture and television. The usual names like Cate Blanchett, Helen Mirren Christian Bale, Bryan Cranston and Leonardo DiCaprio return for a chance at winning the gold actor. Idris Elba received two nominations in each category. Only a few people of color are represented in this group, but the cast of Beast of No Nation and Straight Outta Compton did receive a nomination for Outstanding Performance by a Cast.  Get familiar with the entire list of nominees.

Final List of Oscar 2015 Winners

Birdman was the big winner with four Oscar wins at the 87th Annual Academy Awards for Best Picture, Directing, Best Original Screenplay and Best Cinematography. Boyhood was shut out except for one win for Patricia Arquette as Best Supporting Actress. Instead Whiplash took the next top spot with three wins for actor JK Simmons, Editing and Sound Mixing.
