Tom Cruise celebrates his 50th birthday a day before the Fourth of July with some kick-ass action. Well not in real-life, rather in the new trailer for his new action film JACK REACHER directed by Christopher McQuarrie. It's Dirty Harry meets Mission Impossible from the looks of the new trailer.
Adapted from Lee Child's crime series, a homicide investigator or former cop as the narrative tells us, goes out on the lamb searching for a trained military sniper who killed five strangers. A bed-ridden character describes Jack Reacher as someone who doesn't abide by the law, but adheres to only what is right. He fears for his life as he proclaims no one can protect him from Jack Reacher. Tom Cruise then takes over the narration and tells someone he is not a hero, " and if you're smart, that scares you". Chilling words from the man who got served divorce papers just yesterday from Katie Holmes. People and the media will be reading all sorts of messages from this preview especially when you hear the words "I've got nothing to lose" from the film's leading man.
The Paramount film, opening December 21, also stars Robert Duvall and Rosamund Pike. Oscar-winning screenwriter Christopher McQuarrie (Usual Suspects) directs his second film and worked with Tom Cruise previously on Valkyrie as the screenwriter and producer.
