Hard to believe the image seen here is of actress and Mexico's sweetheart Kate del Castillo as a transsexual inmate in a film by Kristen Stewart's mother, Jules Stewart. Take a look at the full character poster and trailer for K-11.
In K-11, Kate del Castillo takes on a role of a man transformed into a woman named Mousey who runs the secret section of the jail for homosexuals. Kate del Castillo playing a transsexual is quite a shock especially with such a ferocity and devilish face that would make anyone think this is a horror film instead of a jail house drama. She is obviously going for the 70s chola-look (female gangster) or something out of a John Waters' movie (Divine). This role is far from the motherly roles we have been accustomed to recently in such films as La Misma Luna or her recent novela La rein del sur. This definitely goes down as the most menacing character the novela alumni has played to date. The film, directed by Kristen Stewart's mother, centers around a record producer played by Goran Visnjic (Red Widow) who wakes up from a night of binging in a Los Angeles jail called K-11, a section reserved for gays and transsexual offenders. . Kate's Mousey runs the joint and calls all the shot.
Jason Mewes, Portia Doubleday, D.B. Sweeney and Kristen Stewart's brother Cameron also appear in K-11, opening in select cities March 15 and available on VOD.
