Mary Kate and Ashley's younger sister stars as Martha, a tortured woman returning to her family after being held captive in a cult. She struggles to re-assimilate into normal life with her sister and sister's husband as she recalls her horrid past.
MARTHA MARCY MAY MARLENE premiered at 2011's Sundance Film Festival in Park City, Ut and took home a Best Director Award for Sean Durkin who also wrote the film based on his short. MARTHA MARCY MAY MARLENE went on to win a coveted award at Cannes with the Cannes Prix de La Jeunesse.
Like Jennifer Lawrence's buzz around Winter's Bone last year, Elizabeth Olsen is poised to be one to watch for in 2011 and beyond. Ironically, both films have actor John Hawkes in common.
