Terrence Howard and Oprah Winfrey in THE BUTLER movie

Oprah Winfrey returns to acting in the historical drama THE BUTLER, based on the true story of Eugene Allen as a White House butler during eight presidential terms. The sexy new image and dramatic new movie trailer gives us insight into this star-studded drama.

The_Butler_2013_movieOprah Winfrey takes center stage on THE BUTLER first image and in the teaser preview. Directed by Lee Daniels (Precious), Winfrey gets to lock lips with Forest Whitaker as the butler and act opposite Cuba Gooding Jr., Terrence Howard, Mariah Carey and along with some unlikely celebrity faces playing ex-presidents. Robin Williams portrays President Dwight D. Eisenhower, X-Men’s James Marsden as John F. Kennedy with Minka Kelly as his First Lady Jackie Kennedy, Live Schreiber as President Lyndon B. Johnson, John Cusack as President Richard Nixon, Harry Potter’s Alan Rickman as Ronald Reagan along with Jane Fonda as Nancy Reagan.

THE BUTLER chronicles the life of Cecil Gaines from 1952 through 1968 when political and racial unrest rocked the United States.  Will this movie have crossover success like 42, the Jackie Robinson story with Harrison Ford?   Given it’s not a sports movie may not guarantee the same mainstream success, but director Lee Daniels has made sure to give it some punch with top names in key roles. Expect Winfrey’s Oxygen network to give this film full coverage.

THE BUTLER opens after the summer clutter on October 18.
