INTERVIEW: The Movie That Changed Eduardo Verastegui's Life

Watch video interview below

FOR GREATER GLORY centers on the real-life Mexican civil war known as the Cristero War or La Cristiada in the 1920s when the Mexican president enacted a religious persecution against Catholics. Eduardo tells CineMovie's Fernando Esquivel this part of Mexican history was not taught in schools in Mexico, assuming the country tried to hide its dark past.

Starring with Andy Garcia, Eva Longoria ("Desperate Housewives"), Oscar Isaac (Sucker Punch), Catalina Sandino Moreno, Peter O'Toole (Lawrence of Arabia) and Ruben Blades as President Plutarco Elias Calles, Eduardo plays Anacieto Gonzales Flores, one of the men responsible in hiring Garcia's character General Enrique Gorostieta Velarde to organize the rebellion against the Mexican government.

Eduardo Verastegui had no clue about the Cristero War until a friend of the actor introduced the dark events in a script for GREATER GLORY. Once he became aware he wanted to learn more and be part of a movie that educates movie-goers who didn't know about the 1920s war that caused the death of over 200,000 Mexican citizens.

FOR GREATER GLORY is now playing in movie theatres.
