Disney's animated classic 101 DALMATIONS is on Blu-ray and DVD for the first time, and CineMovie sat down with the actresses behind the voices and one of the animators who worked closely with Walt Disney to give us some insight into the making of film during the 1950s.
101 DALMATIONS was the first film for long-time Disney animator Floyd Norman who was the first African-American animator at the Disney Studios in 1956. He continues working as a freelance artist for Disney, and he has worked on other modern classics like Monsters, Inc. and Toy Story 2. During our interview with Floyd Norman, he gave us insight into why 101 DALMATIONS was an important film for Walt Disney after Sleeping Beauty failed to capture audiences in movie theaters in 1959.
We also sat down with the actresses behind the voice of "Lucky" and "Anita" from the 101 DALMATIONS. Lisa Davis and Mimi Gibson reminisce about their experience on the film including working with live dalmations in the studio. Lisa Davis also describes Walt Disney's commitment to his studio and films.
