Loosely based on real events, Natalie Portman is NASA astronaut Lisa Cole who can't resume her normal life after going into space. Director Noah Hawley gives us an experimental film that feels more jarring than Lucy's descent into madness.

Semper Fi review Jai Courtney Natt Wolff

SEMPER FI doesn’t know what it wants to be. The testosterone-fueled melodrama turns into a prison break movie.

SEMPER FI stars Jai Courtney, Finn Wittrock, Nat Wolff, Beau Knapp and Arturo Castro. Courtney plays Cal, a by-the-book police officer and Marine Corps reservist. When his brother Oyster (Wolff) receives an unfair prison sentence, Cal enlists his brothers in arms to help break out his younger sibling.

Joker movie reaction 850

The media hoopla about the JOKER movie starring Joaquin Phoenix is overboard. This Joker origins story is a character study on how someone evolves into a violent criminal. Director Todd Phillips took poetic license to the story but in no way does it make the future DC villain out to be the hero. Rather he depicts Arthur Fleck's descent into madness to become the Joker. Watch our JOKER review.

Gerard Butler returns for a third time as secret service agent Mike Banning this time protecting Morgan Freeman as the now President of the United States in ANGEL HAS FALLEN. Nick Nolte, Danny Huston and  Jada Pinkett Smith join the fray. While the storyline is a rehash of several other action films, director Ric Roman Waugh pulls off ambitious and unique action sequences. Watch my full review below.

ready or not movie CineMovie review 850

READY OR NOT is a hilarious horror comedy with a great leading lady who keeps every moment interesting. Samara Weaving plays Grace, a bride marrying into a well-to-do family whose strange initiation has her on the run as soon as she says, "I do." The last time a horror film was this fun was back in 1981 with Sam Raimi's EVIL DEAD. Watch my full reaction below.

47 Meters Down Uncaged Review 850

47 METERS DOWN: UNCAGED has more in common with Sharknado than its predecessor. The original 2017 film starring Mandy Moore was a non-stop anxiety fest, but its sequel is more worthy of a release on the SYFY Network rather than a movie theater experience. When your main characters aren't dying fast enough to end your misery, there's a huge problem.

Scary Stories To Tell in the Dark movie review 850

Guillermo del Toro brings us SCARY STORIES TO TELL IN THE DARK as a producer with Norwegian director Andre Ovredal at the helm. The PG-13 horror film is based on the Alvin Schwartz's series by the same name. Whether you like it or not depends on your familiarity with the books. Fans of the books will most likely be disappointed but casual horror fans will enjoy it. Watch our review while on the go.

Incredibles 2 movie review

The Incredibles have aged very well and so did the story. INCREDIBLES 2 is a worthy sequel that is so much fun for any age group. Jack-Jack steals the show, and the little guy will have you chucking throughout the movie and make your day. That's just what this ugly world needs right now. INCREDIBLES 2 may also validate that parenting is definitely more challenging than superhero work.

Pacific Rim Uprising John Boyega Cailee Spaeny

PACIFIC RIM: UPRISING is a totally different movie from PACIFIC RIM. Guillermo del Toro's PACIFIC RIM payed homage to classic Japanese Kaiju movies while PACIFIC RIM: UPRISING is going for the TRANSFORMERS feel but albeit with a better story and a few surprising twists. While it's basically another Hollywood action movie, it has something different going for it. The women are strong participants and are treated equally as the male characters.

Warner Bros. and DC should forget the live action franchise movies, and release LEGO movies based on DC superheroes every year. THE LEGO BATMAN MOVIE is so much fun, irreverent and a must-see for all ages.
